South African Muslim Council (SAMC) becomes a UUCSA Member

Alḥamdulillāh, 06 December 2025, marked a truly historic and spiritually uplifting moment for UUCSA as we formally welcomed the South African Muslim Council (SAMC) into our ranks as a full member. SAMC is the 12th Ulama body member of UUCSA.

The UUCSA delegation was warmly received by the Ameer of SAMC, Shaykh Abdur Raheem, and his honourable team, who travelled significant distances to host us at their Winterveld Centre. Winterveld is a large, historically significant township northwest of Pretoria, South Africa.

The hospitality of the Ulama of SAMC reflected not only generosity, but a sincere desire for unity, collaboration, and collective wisdom.

The rich history of this community, founded upon the grassroots dedication of Mama Zainab, nurtured by the sacrifices of the Jama'ah, and strengthened through decades of quiet, committed service, stands today as a 'Centre of Excellence' serving the broader society with dignity and compassion. Their journey is a testimony to what sincerity, perseverance, and community-driven leadership can achieve. We were introduced to the range of community outreach projects from skills development, farming, health services, education, etc.

At this special occasion, two significant events took place. A young man embraced Islam, and another young student, Ashraf, completed his Hifthul Qur'an, Masha Allah.

Our open, frank, and heartfelt discussions between the ʿUlamā and UUCSA leadership reaffirmed that this is indeed a defining moment.

A moment that calls upon us to move forward collectively, strengthen our bonds, and approach the challenges ahead with:

 Ikhlāṣ – sincerity of intention

 Amānah – transparency and trust

 Shūrā – consultation and inclusivity

Ukhūwwah – genuine brotherhood across communities

Hisab - Accountability to Allah Ta'ala.

This partnership is not merely an administrative development; it is a renewal of our shared commitment to serve the Ummah of South Africa with wisdom, responsibility, and unity of heart.

May Allāh Ta'ala make this step a source of Barakah, a means of healing divisions, and a platform through which we may collectively advance the noble causes of justice, compassion, and the upliftment of every household in our nation.

We pray that Allah Ta'ala guide us in all our affairs and remove all obstacles, Aameen.
